Mark Rafaevich Art

Liza from Vinnitsa

Canvas on Acrylic | 50×35

990.00

When Russia started the war against Ukraine, our whole family, including Mark, stuck to the TV.

On July 14, a Russian missile hit Vinnytsia and killed a 4-year-old girl Liza. The blood, the stroller, all this horror got into the frame.

Mark’s first reaction was to smash the TV.

Then he put on Moti’s army boots (Moti is his older brother) – he wanted to leave the house, shouted and punched the wall.

I, his mom, convinced him that he could not help Liza – she was gone, but he could paint her in a different, beautiful place, and maybe her soul would be there.

It was not easy to calm him down – he was angry, but he began to paint – and the first painting of Liza was born.

There the girl stands in a magical forest, among yellow flowers, with a smile on her beautiful face.

Then Mark saw a photo of Liza on Instagram in a lilac dress on a lavender field and drew Liza in lilac tones, surrounded by lavender flowers and holding three dandelions.

Price shown for a museum copy made with a special scanner; Cruse Scanner.
